About Us:
The biggest contributor to the success of TGO
is the combination of people we have working here.
Trevor
and Zaidee Laughlin opened TGO in August, 2001. Trevor
is the foodie in the household - his mother started doing
cooking shows on Buffalo (NY) Public Television in the '70's
and then opened her own cooking school, well before the
modern popularity of that genre. Trevor learned well
from his mother - he appreciates all aspects
of food, from the ingredients through the cooking to the
eating.
While
you may periodically see Zaidee working in the shop,
she spends most of her time upstairs "doing the books"
- someone has to, you know - and putting together the weekly
email. The Laughlins have lived in Plattsburgh since 1991
(Zaidee's parents moved to the area in the late '70's) and
they knew that the time was right for this type of store.
Donna
Bell loves food from A to Z. She loves growing it, shopping
for it, cooking it and eating it. According to Donna,
the store is a playpen full of toys. "Plattsburgh needed
this kind of store and I'm so happy to be part of it. And
it's saving me a lot of gas money," now that she doesn't
have to travel to Burlington, Montreal and beyond to find
wonderful ingredients. Donna has been part of the gang since
two weeks before the store actually opened!
Other
staff members, with varying lengths of service and very
flexible work-schedules, include Dale Dowdle,
Loretta Rietsema, Jim Votraw, Kathy Besaw, Shawn
Turner and Adam Lewin. Without
this wonderful crew, Trevor and Zaidee would still be trying
to figure out what shelf to put the Aged Balsamic Vinegar
on!
